Learning Rights Law Center was devastated to learn that our former client and volunteer Hector Arellano passed away last month. Hector was represented by Learning Rights for several years as he pursued his right to an equitable education, and he volunteered with the organization after graduating. Hector was a shining light at Learning Rights; a dedicated volunteer with a bright smile. Hector’s campaign for student body president at Cerritos College was an inspiration to Learning Rights staff – proof that empowered students have no limits. Hector will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and we wish his family the very best in this difficult time.

Thank you for sharing this heartfelt tribute to Hector. His story is truly inspiring and a reminder of how empowered students can make a lasting impact. It’s stories like his that inspire me in my own work—like creating a custom made island for kitchen spaces that help families gather, connect, and support one another every day.
