 Your Participation Makes an Impact

  • All of Learning Rights’ clients live at or below the poverty line.

  • Learning Rights’ clients are disproportionately denied access to a public education on the basis of disability and/or discrimination.

  • Learning Rights’ clients cannot afford a lawyer and cannot get equitable access to public education without our assistance.

  • LRLC is the only legal nonprofit organization that offers free training in education rights and advocacy to extremely vulnerable families who cannot afford an education rights attorney to fight for their children.

We have many great ways that firms can earn points, contribute

their time and have a direct impact on our work!

  • Learning Rights can give a presentation at your firm about our work in the field of disability and education law.

  • Join the staff of Learning Rights at our Education Rights Clinic by conducting front line interviews and document reviews with families in desperate need of education advocacy. There is a four-hour minimum commitment on the day of the clinic, along with review of a 1-hour online training prior to clinic day. Clinic will take place on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) at our offices in downtown Los Angeles.

  • Perform critical legal research: Work virtually. We always have longer term legal research or legal surveys we need completed. Help us write research memos, update our case law surveys, and join us to strategize how to address emerging legal issues in the field. Time commitment varies by the subject and need, but we will have a variety of topics available.

  • Co-counsel a case with us: Looking for a deeper commitment? We are looking for pro bono partners to help us litigate special education administrative cases. Pro bono attorneys will partner with our special education litigators to help a family enforce their rights under the law. Of course, this type of commitment will last longer than the month of June, but summer is the perfect time to explore this option if there is interest at your firm.

  • Help with Tiger Graduation on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at Loyola Marymount University.  Join our graduation committee and help arrange children’s activities, help us solicit snacks and giveaways and lend your thoughts to new ways to make this heartfelt ceremony as meaningful as possible for our graduates.

  • Make a donation to Learning Rights! Funds raised support TIGER, our award winning, know-your rights program.

Summer associates, law firm associates, partners, paralegals, legal secretaries

and clerical staff are all welcome to participate in the challenge!
