Helpline - How Our Services Can Help You

Learning Rights Law Center is committed to helping students receive an equitable public education by assisting families to resolve their child’s education issues and helping them gain access to an appropriate education and needed services.  Our services are available to low-income students and their families.

The following free services are provided to students who are 3 to 22 years old with education issues: (1) consultations; (2) direct representation; and (3) parent training.

Learning Rights handles various education issues such as: a school’s denial of enrollment into their school; a school’s failure to implement special education services and supports; the denial of existing services; the failure to properly evaluate a special education student in all areas of suspected disability; the failure to provide an education in the least restrictive environment; and failure to provide a free and appropriate public education.

Where appropriate, LRLC also provides advice and advocacy for students who are victims of harassment based on sexual orientation, who lack language access, who are homelessness, who are subject to delinquency issues, and who are in foster care.

At diagnostic intake clinics, parents and/or students meet one-on-one with a Learning Rights advocate to discuss the student’s education issues. Parents are advised by an attorney as to the student’s rights and are given actionable steps to remedy the issues at hand.  When appropriate, students and their families are provided with legal representation to resolve the student’s education issues.

Please call us at 213-489-4030 to make an appointment for a diagnostic intake session.
